All Cheonan City bus numbers have changed as of December 22, 2007.
Areas within the city are from #1-82.
Rural areas such as Seonghwan, Seonggeo, Jiksan, Ipjang, Pyeongtaek, and Ansung are bus #100-200.
Other rural areas (Mokcheon, Bukmyeon, Seongnam, Sushin, Buyoungcheon, Dongmyeon, and Jincheon are bus numbers #300, 400 and 500.
Pungsae, Kwangdeok, Yeongi and Gonju are # 600 and 700 buses.
Asan buses are #800-900 buses.
http://www.cheonan.go.kr/portal/traffic_2.asp and http://its.cheonan.go.kr/service/bus/BusController?cmd=busroute# lists all the bus numbers and their routes, but the information is only in Korean.
Another good site is http://blog.naver.com/girl1231?Redirect=Log&logNo=150025896642 which is Korean's blog. I has an interactive view of the bus routes. Unfortunately no map is provide.
Here is are two buses I frequently take.
Bus #12 Korea Nazarene University- Bus terminal - Buyoung Apt.
Bus #13 Cheonan-Asan KTX -Beodulyukgori- Dankook University.
Cheonan is now connected to Seoul, the capital city, by subway. There are two subway stations in Cheoanan - Dujeong-dong Subway Station and Cheonan Subway Station(which is also the train station.) The trip takes about 2 hours from Seoul by subway (Line #1). The cost is just 2100-2300 won. The subway is crowded during rush hours because of commuters and Cheonan university students. Try to travel during off peak hours.
There are two types of trains in Korea - the regular train and the high-speed train which is called the KTX.
Luckily, there is one train station (Cheonan Station) and one KTX station (Cheoan-Asan Station) in Cheonan. Cheonan Station is located downtown. Cheonan-Asan Station is located near Buldangdong at the border of Cheonan City and Asan City.
Log onto http://www.korail.go.kr/2005/eng/index.html for the Korean Railways site. You can check train schedules for regular trains and the KTX. The site has an English version.
If you have a Barota membership card (20,000 won refundable deposit) you can reserve tickets on-line. This is a really convenient service.
